Even though he was dealing with a foot injury heading into the game, New England Patriots right tackle Morgan Moses went wire-to-wire on Sunday in Miami. After his team’s 33-27 victory over the Dolphins, however, the veteran offseason signing was spotted in the lcker room by Doug Kyed of the Boston Herald wearing a walking boot in the locker room.
Moses’ foot injury first popped up on Wednesday. After playing every snap in the Patriots’ season opener against the Las Vegas Raiders three days before, he was a non-participant for the first practice leading up to Week 2 and later that day listed on the injury report with the aforementioned foot issue.
The 34-year-old managed to return to practice the next day, but remained limited on both Thursday and Friday. He entered the weekend carrying the “questionable” label but was cleared to make the trip to Florida.
Moses ended up taking the field for all 60 of New England’s snaps at Hard Rock Stadium, and was credited with only one pressure given up all day. However, he also was flagged on three separate occasions for false start infractions. After the game, he would not use his injury as an excuse and instead stressed the need to simply play better moving forward.
Moses will get his next chance to do so in a week. The 1-1 Patriots will host the 1-1 Pittsburgh Steelers at Foxborough’s Gillette Stadium on Sunday, whether their right tackle will be available nor not.
