New details have emerged about the story involving George Kittle and a bottle of tequila, following his Achilles tear in the San Francisco 49ers’ playoff win over the Philadelphia Eagles.

George Kittle had to be carted off the field after hurting his Achilles in the second quarter. Unfortunately, Kittle and the 49ers received confirmation soon after that it was a torn Achilles.

Soon after, it was reported that a 49ers employee was seen carrying a bottle of tequila to the locker room. That led to speculation that Kittle was going straight into party mode.

In an update, The Athletic’s Dianna Russini reported that it was patron tequila. George Kittle did, in fact, ask for the tequila, and it was delivered from the suite of the 49ers’ owner. Russini added that the bottle was “now empty.”

So there you have it. Kittle seemingly wanted some alcohol to numb the physical and emotional pain of his season-ending victory. And a 49ers 23-19 victory may or may not have led to him drinking more alcohol to celebrate after finishing the bottle.

49ers Must Move Forward Without George Kittle

With their win, the San Francisco 49ers move on to the Divisional Round, where they’ll take on the Seattle Seahawks.

It’s a rematch of their week 18 battle for first place in the NFC. Seattle won that round, 13-3, thanks to a stellar performance from their defense on the road. This time around, the Seahawks will have home-field advantage. And they won’t have to worry about neutralizing the Niners’ biggest offensive weapon.

Kittle had five catches for 29 yards in their last meeting. He finished the regular season with 57 catches for 628 yards and seven touchdowns in just 11 contests. And he had one catch for six yards before leaving Sunday’s Wild Card win vs. the Eagles.

Kyle Shanahan will have his work cut out for him as he tries to figure out how to compensate for Kittle’s loss on a short week. The Niners and Seahawks are scheduled to play next Saturday.
