Things just continue to get worse for the New York Jets during the 2025 NFL season.
After another rough performance from Justin Fields last week, backup Tyrod Taylor was in line to potentially get his first start in Week 8 versus the Cincinnati Bengals. Well, that may no longer be the case for a surprising reason.
It can’t be too shocking that Taylor has wound up on the Jets’ injury report. Having trouble staying healthy has been the story of the one-time Pro Bowler’s 15-year NFL career. In almost every season since he’s been in the league, he has had an injury that has cost him games, including a punctured lung in 2020 and a rib sprain two years ago.
It is just stunning that after coming into the game and playing the entire second half and seeming injury-free, he has randomly incurred an ailment that might take away another chance to start in the NFL. It seems like more evidence that the Jets are cursed this season.
Heading into Sunday, New York has the worst record in the league (0-7) and is on a path to having one of the worst seasons in the history of a franchise that has many awful years. Their big offseason addition was former first-round pick Justin Fields. However, he has been a huge disappointment this year. Throwing for just 91 yards over his last six quarters.
Taylor at least gave Jets fans hope that they could be a little better on offense in the second half of the season and maybe score a few wins. If the journeyman’s history is any indication, even if he eventually suits up, he will probably just get injured again. And it will likely happen after a good game.
The 2025 season continues to be a nightmare for the New York Jets.
