Between the draft and the rules change proposal, the Packers are at the center of the NFL’s mind right now.

The Green Bay Packers are sitting front and center in the eyes of the NFL right now. In less than four weeks, the 2025 NFL Draft will kick off from just in front of Lambeau Field, marking the first time that Green Bay has hosted one of the league’s premier events. And as of this weekend, construction for all of the stages and temporary facilities associated with the draft is officially underway.

That of course means that the area around Lambeau Field is going to start being a bit more congested and some roads will be shut down temporarily over the next few weeks. Be aware of that and make sure to check out some local resources if you’re in the area, but get ready to join some APC writers and community members in a few weeks for a wild weekend.

It’s not only looking ahead to the draft that has the Packers squarely as the center of attention around the league, however. The other reason that is the case is the team’s rules proposal to ban the tush push. While this writer assumed initially that this idea would be dead on arrival, there is now new reporting that the proposal actually has some support behind it from other teams.

Obviously, the Eagles aren’t one of those teams. But it appears that the competition committee is divided on the issue, rather than dismissive of it entirely. Tuesday should be an interesting day, as that is when the league is expected to vote on that rule and other proposed changes, so keep an eye out tomorrow for news on that front.

At least some members of the committee like the proposal, but there are still some big hurdles to overcome if it is to pass when voted on this Tuesday.

The Packers seem to have struck at the right time when drafting safeties and linebackers last year, as the 2025 class is weak at both positions. Meanwhile, the defensive line, edge, and cornerback groups are strong this year, setting up a potentially great haul.
