Tonight we have a matchup of winless wonders on Monday Night Football. The Miami Dolphins host the New York Jets in a game for the AFC East cellar. The game is scheduled to kickoff at 7:15 p.m. EDT.
The Jets have opened the 2025 season with three straight losses. The first was a close loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers, where the Jets offense played extremely well but the defense faltered. In Week 2 the Jets were flat out dominated in all aspects of the game by a superior Buffalo Bills team. Last week the Jets were dominated by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for three quarters, managed a late comeback to briefly take a one point lead on a Will McDonald blocked kick and return for a touchdown, then helplessly allowed the Dolphins to march right down the field for the game winning field goal as time expired. Now the Jets face an 0-3 Miami Dolphins team that has matched the Jets for ineptitude.
The Dolphins opened the 2025 season with a blowout loss to the Indianapolis Colts before two somewhat more competitive losses to the New England Patriots and the Buffalo Bills. Now they face the Jets at home in a game both teams need to escape an 0-4 start to the season and sole possession of last place in the AFC East.
The Jets get starting quarterback Justin Fields back for this game after he missed a game with a concussion. Both teams have played mostly miserable football on offense and on defense so far this season, with neither team ranking in the top 20 in the NFL on either side of the ball. Both teams see an opportunity to begin to right the ship against a weak rival. We’ll see who comes out on top tonight.
