Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Jordan Addison has been suspended.

The NFL has punished Addison following an arrest for DUI last year, which had many fans wondering what might happen once the league got involved.

Having since pleaded guilty to a lesser charge, the player has incurred a three-game suspension that will see him miss the Vikings’ games against the Chicago Bears, Atlanta Falcons, and Cincinnati Bengals to start 2025.

NFL insider Adam Schefter made the announcement on X this Tuesday.

“Discipline: NFL suspended Vikings WR Jordan Addison for the first three games of the 2025 regular season for violating the league’s Substances of Abuse Policy,” Schefter wrote.

“Addison now will miss games at Chicago, vs. the Falcons and vs. the Bengals.”

Jordan Addison Can Put This All Behind Him

Addison is one of the most electrifying young wideouts in the NFL and has been a great sidekick to Justin Jefferson.

He will rue the missed games but should also be relieved that he is now fully aware of his punishment, which had been looming for some time. He’ll be able to put it behind him and hopefully keep it in the rearview once he’s back to playing again.

The Vikings are heading into next season with JJ McCarthy as their starting quarterback following a rookie season in which he was sidelined due to a preseason injury. The team still impressed, playing Sam Darnold under center, but they imploded in the playoffs.

McCarthy will still have a tough act to follow and will have added pressure, given the challenge the NFC North will present.

Not having one of their best offensive players to start the season could be costly, but the Vikings have adequate firepower to ride it out.
