Jordan Addison’s trial for a driving under the influence (DUI) offense took a bizarre twist this week.

On July 12 of last year, police arrested Jordan Addison near the Los Angeles International Airport on suspicion of driving under the influence. A California Highway Patrol officer responded to a call and found Addison asleep behind the wheel.

According to a report from ESPN’s Kevin Seifert, Addison’s trial was supposed to start yesterday. However, the online records state that Addison’s trial will begin on Thursday, and no reason has been given for the delay.

In December, Jordan Addison pleaded not guilty to two driving under the influence charges. If convicted, Addison faces the possibility of up to six months in prison, $2,000 in fines and a driver’s license suspension of up to six months.

Jail time is highly unlikely for a first-time offender in the state of California. In the NFL, the baseline punishment for a DUI is three games, so there’s a possibility that the Vikings’ star wideout will miss playing time.

If that happens, Addison would miss Weeks 1 (at the Chicago Bears), 2 (vs. Atlanta Falcons) and 3 (vs. Cincinnati Bengals). He would be eligible to return in Week 4 against the Pittsburgh Steelers in Dublin.

Jordan Addison Has Emerged As A Star For The Vikings

Needing a capable No. 2 receiver to help Justin Jefferson, the Vikings drafted Addison 23rd overall in 2023. He had a tremendous rookie season, recording 70 catches for 911 and 10 touchdowns.

Despite missing two games last season, Addison still tallied 63 receptions for 875 yards and nine touchdowns as the Vikings cruised to a 14-3 record. Addison had three catches for 29 losses in the Vikings’ Wild Card Round loss to the Los Angeles Rams.
