Minnesota Vikings Odds: Vikings Road Underdog on West Coast

After a tough loss in Week 7, the Minnesota Vikings will have a tall task ahead of them as they attempt to avoid their first losing streak of the 2025 NFL season. The early betting odds certainly reflect that sentiment.

According to FanDuel, the Vikings are currently a 3-point underdog as they prepare to head out to the West Coast to face the Los Angeles Chargers on Thursday Night Football. The over/under for points in this one currently rests at 43.5.

This is a similar scenario to what the Vikings faced last season. They suffered a loss to Detroit early on in the season and then had to turn around and play a Thursday Night game in the same stadium when they took on the Los Angeles Rams. The results of that one weren’t good for the purple, as they lost 30-20.

Once again, questions will surround the quarterback position for the Vikings. J.J. McCarthy was healthy enough to serve as the emergency quarterback against Philadelphia, and Carson Wentz had plenty of instances in the Eagles game where he struggled. The Vikings need to get some answers on McCarthy sooner rather than later, and he might get an opportunity to face his old college coach in Jim Harbaugh if Kevin O’Connell names him the starter in this one.

The Chargers are reeling a bit coming into this one, having lost three of their last four after a 3-0 start. This past Sunday, they had no answers against the Indianapolis Colts, as Indy beat them at SoFi Stadium by a final score of 38-24. Los Angeles has plenty of weapons on offense, though, so a Vikings defense that took a pretty significant beating through the air against Philadelphia is going to need to figure things out in short order.
