Quarterback Carson Wentz told reporters after the Minnesota Vikings loss to the Los Angeles Chargers that the game might have been the “most pain” he’d ever been in while playing in a football game, which has resulted in questions being asked of why he was on the field in the first place.
According to reports, the 32-year-old signal-caller will undergo surgery to repair his shoulder, which he injury in the Vikings’ October 5 win over the Cleveland Browns in London.
Despite the injury — which includes a torn labrum and fractured socket — Wentz started in the next two games for the Vikings, losses to the Philadelphia Eagles and Los Angeles Chargers.
It all came apart in the Chargers game, however, with Wentz now being knocked out for the season due to the surgery.
Given the reports of how serious Wentz’s injury is, pressure has begun mounting on Minnesota Vikings head coach Kevin O’Connell for playing the veteran QB.

“The more that comes out on this Carson Wentz fiasco is absolutely wild. The way this was handled is the complete opposite of the “culture” that Kevin O’Connell preaches continually over the years. Not only that, there’s the question about Max Brosmer. Either O’Connell knows he’s complete ass or he was scared of his success. Makes absolutely no sense and that’s when questions need asked,” a popular Vikings account tweeted.
“This makes me feel kind of gross. It sounds like Wentz’s non-throwing arm was basically dangling at his side for the better part of a month just to make sure McCarthy’s ankle has that new car smell before he stepped on the field again,” another viral tweet read.

Despite the injury, however, reports indicate that Wentz plans to continue playing in the NFL next season if he can.
