Three Keys

1) No injuries – Once again, this is the primary point of emphasis in any preseason game. Hopefully, the Vikings, who will be playing almost exclusively backups in this one, can avoid any major injury pitfalls this evening.

2) Focus on QB3 – This is the camp battle that a lot of people have been watching. Sam Howell probably won’t play a lot in this one, which will leave plenty of snaps for the battle between journeyman Brett Rypien and undrafted rookie Max Brosmer. One of those two players will be the third quarterback for the Vikings, while the other could find themselves on the practice squad. Who will emerge as the winner after tonight?

3) Young defensive linemen – With the trade of Harrison Phillips on Wednesday, the Vikings have signaled that they have faith in their cadre of young defensive linemen. We’ll have to see how much those youngsters play in this one, as players like Tyrion Ingram-Dawkins, Elijah Williams, Levi Drake Rodriguez (if he plays tonight), and others will be staking their claims to be one of the players that make the 53-man roster on Tuesday.

Like last week, we’ll have an Open Thread for each half of this one, so once we get to halftime keep an eye out for the new thread and move things along accordingly.

Here’s hoping for a good, clean football game with no significant injuries for either side so we can turn our speculations to the final cutdown that will happen on Tuesday afternoon.

SKOLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL VIKINGS!!!!
