Minnesota Vikings at Dallas Cowboys: First Quarter Recap and Second Quarter Discussion

We have made it through the first quarter at Jerryworld, and the Minnesota Vikings and Dallas Cowboys are tied up at 7-7 on Sunday Night Football.

The Vikings got the football first in this one after the Cowboys won the toss and chose to defer to the second half. It took the Vikings’ offense two plays to. . .turn the ball over, as J.J. McCarthy’s first pass of the night was tipped in the air by a blitzing Donovan Wilson and into the hands of defensive lineman Quinnen Williams for an interception.

It looked like the Vikings had limited the damage, as the Cowboys called on Brandon Aubrey for a field goal attempt, but the Cowboys faked it, as they pitched it to Aubrey, who ran for the first down instead. Eventually, the Cowboys powered it into the end zone, with Javonte Williams going in from a yard out to give the home team a 7-0 lead.

The Vikings managed to pick up a first down on their next possession but wound up punting it away, with Ryan Wright’s punt getting downed at the 3-yard line to give Dallas a very long field. That turned into a three-and-out, and the Vikings’ offense got the ball back close to midfield after a fair catch from Myles Price. It took the Vikings just two plays to get into the end zone, as McCarthy found Jalen Nailor for a 20-yard touchdown to tie things up at 7-7.

Unfortunately, Dallas has quickly answered, and as we move to the second quarter, the Cowboys are looking at a first-and-goal from the Minnesota 1-yard line.

Things are all tied up in Dallas, 7-7, as we move to the second quarter. Come on in and join us for all the action, won’t you?
