Mina Kimes is getting a lot of hate after she spoke about a deadly shooting involving an ICE agent in Minnesota. Many people criticized the ESPN analyst this week because they felt her comments were too dismissive and too certain.

Kimes reacted on X to reports about Renee Nicole Good, who died after an ICE agent shot her during an encounter. “The ghouls on this app are reacting to this the way you’d expect, but they are not real people,” Kimes wrote. “Real people, your neighbors, friends, anyone with a conscience, see this and feel angry and sad. Real people know it’s wrong.”

The posts spread fast, and so did the backlash. Critics said Kimes treated a disputed case like it was already proven. Many felt she shut down discussion by suggesting anyone who disagreed lacked morals.

Kimes later shared posts about Good’s family, including references to her young son. She also posted short videos from the scene. But those were only a few instances of what happened, and she missed important context. Although Stephen A. Smith’s take on this issue was also not accepted well.

Conflicting Accounts Make The Situation Tough For Kimes

The Department of Homeland Security gave a different version of events. DHS says the ICE agent shot after the woman, Renee Good, allegedly tried to drive into federal officers with her car. The agency says the agent acted in self-defense.

Video from the scene has also been shared online that makes the situation look more complicated. So far, Kimes has not said anything about that footage in her posts. OutKick said it reached out to her to ask whether the new video changed her view, but she did not reply before the story was published.

OutKick also disagreed with Kimes’ claim that people who disagree with her have no conscience. The outlet said the case has disputed facts and isn’t a simple moral issue. “Mina Kimes is certain that the ICE agent is in the wrong. She belittled anyone who disagrees with her as “not a real human.” Well, that is simply not true. And she appears to have used selectively shot videos to make her point. She’s in over her head,” OutKick writer Bobby Burack said.
