New England Patriots rookie Jared Wilson is carving out a role for himself.

… Well, multiple roles.

The Patriots fourth-rounder received first-team reps at two different positions during the first week of training camp practices. The Georgia product saw reps at center and left guard in front of starting quarterback Drake Maye.

“I think that he’s a quick learner,” Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel said before Day 3 of training camp Friday. “He was one of those players that maybe wasn’t out there as much on the field in the spring, but really was able to grasp it mentally and allow that to carry over when he had an opportunity to be on the field. So, he was able to show, for a young player, some of those things to be ready when he got his opportunity to be on the field.”

Veteran center Garrett Bradbury and left guard Cole Strange also saw first-team reps and figure to be in the pole position for those respective positions. However, Wilson is firmly in the mix.

Continued success when the pads come on Monday would go a long way.
