New England Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel opened up on the team failing to make a trade at the NFL trade deadline.

The Patriots are atop the AFC East and were rumored to be interested in pass-rush help as well as some offensive help. However, New England ended up not making any trades to bolster its roster.

Following the deadline passing, Vrabel spoke to the media and dropped a wild quote on whether or not the Patriots were close to a trade.

“First, I would say deals are like being pregnant,” Vrabel said on Wednesday, via MassLive’s Mark Daniels. “You either are or you’re not. It’s either a deal or it’s not. I don’t know how close you can be.

“I know that everyone worked hard, that we investigated and looked in, and made phone calls, what personnel departments do. In the end, we decided this was what we were going to do. Decided to move forward.”

It’s a funny quote from Vrabel, who wouldn’t get into whether or not he felt like the Patriots were close to making a deal or not.

Despite not making any additions, Vrabel is confident in his team, as New England is off to a 7-2 start and atop the AFC East.

The Patriots will go on the road to play the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday in Week 10 NFL action.
