Mike Vrabel and the New England Patriots are preparing for their Week 3 contest against the Pittsburgh Steelers, but before that happens, Julian Edelman and Bill Parcells will be inducted into the Patriots Hall of Fame on Saturday.
It’s a big honor for both Edelman and Parcells. While Parcells didn’t directly contribute to New England’s dynasty, he helped put the pieces in place for Bill Belichick to eventually come in and turn the team into a perennial Super Bowl contender.
Edelman, of course, starred for the Pats in the second half of their dynasty, helping them win their three most recent championships. For a franchise full of players that are worthy of being inducted into the Patriots Hall of Fame, it’s telling that Edelman got voted in so soon after retiring in 2021.
One guy who understands what it means to be in the Patriots Hall of Fame is Vrabel, as he was inducted in 2023 alongside longtime offensive line coach Dante Scarnecchia. When speaking about Edelman, Vrabel made it clear just how much respect he has for him.
“A pure competitor, a pure warrior out on the field,” Vrabel said of Edelman on Friday. “Toughness, great play demeanor, and willing to do anything to help the football team. I’m excited for him this weekend, and his family.”
“We talk about everybody’s journey to the NFL, it looks a little different for everybody, but we’re very worthy to be in the Hall of Fame here.”
Given how much Edelman and Parcells did for the Patriots during their respective careers, Saturday will rightfully be a day of celebration for the team and fans alike. However, things will have to shift quickly, as New England has an important matchup with the Pittsburgh Steelers on their schedule for Sunday.
