The Pittsburgh Steelers are 4-1 after defeating the Cleveland Browns 23-9 in Week 6. They now get ready to take on the Cincinnati Bengals on Thursday night, a day that has been their kryptonite. The Steelers are 14-21 all-time in Thursday night games, and 1-5 in their last six.
The Steelers will face Joe Flacco, whom the Browns traded within the division ahead of Week 6, following Jake Browning’s eight interceptions in four games. Mike Tomlin was asked about the trade, to which he took a shot at Browns general manager Andrew Berry for making such a move.
“Andrew Berry must be a lot smarter than me or us, because it doesn’t make sense to me to trade a quarterback that you think enough of to make your opening-day starter to a division opponent that’s hurting in that area,” Tomlin said during his Monday press conference. “But that’s just my personal feelings.”
The Steelers lost to Joe Flacco in Week 4 of 2024 when he came in for an injured Anthony Richardson to lead the Colts to a 27-24 win. The Steelers almost certainly would have rather faced Browning than Flacco, who knows what the Steelers will look to do, far more than Browning would.
