Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin took a shot at Cleveland Browns general manager Andrew Berry following their Week 6 matchup on Sunday. Tomlin took issue with Berry trading QB Joe Flacco to the Cincinnati Bengals.
After losing franchise quarterback Joe Burrow to a toe injury that’s set to sideline him for three months, the Bengals turned to back-up signal caller Jake Browning.
The Bengals, after starting the season 2-0, lost three straight games with Browning under center, leading them to trade for Flacco.
The old school Mike Tomlin clearly took issue with the idea of trading a player to a divisional rival.
**“Andrew Berry must be a lot smarter than me or us because it doesn’t make sense to me to trade a QB you think enough of to make your opening-day starter to a division opponent that’s hurting in that area. But that’s just my personal feeling,”**Tomlin told reporters on Monday.
While Tomlin undoubtedly has a point, the flip side of the argument was that the Browns found a way to get an asset for a 40 year old player that they decided they were moving on from, and the Bengals were likely the only suitors.
