To say that Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin is a conservative coach would be a gross understatement. On offense, Tomlin is content to maintain a plodding, methodical offensive approach no matter who his offensive coordinator is.
Tomlin has even gone so far as to craft the passing game around avoiding throwing between the hashes almost entirely. This has been a thorn in the side of Steelers fans for a very long time. Many were confused as to why Tomlin would hamstring his passing game so much.
Well, Steelers beat writer Mark Kaboly offered up some insight on the situation during an appearance on 93.7 TheFan and it fell right in line with Tomlin living in his fears over turning the football over.
According to Kaboly, Tomlin is more worried about turning the football over than he is throwing it to the middle of the field. This is a terrifying realization that we all suspected. It is very hard to look ahead to the offseason and the 2025 season with any level of optimism when the Steelers are going against offenses like the Kansas City Chiefs, Buffalo Bills and Baltimore Ravens in the AFC who are fearless in their offensive approach.
