Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin admitted in a one-on-one interview with Bob Pompeani of KDKA that the Steelers will have a few trick up their sleeves for Sunday night’s win-or-go-home game against the Baltimore Ravens.

“We’ll have a trick or two up our sleeves,” Tomlin told Pompeani. “I’m sure they will, [too].”

Sunday night’s game will be Tomlin’s 40th meeting against John Harbaugh. Only George Halas and Curly Lambeau, who coached against each other 49 times between 1921 and 1953, faced each other more.

To say the least, Tomlin and Harbaugh know each other like the back of their hands. A few unexpected wrinkles in the game plan could be the difference in Sunday night’s pivotal game.

“I’m sure both agendas will be somewhat non-significant when the rubber meets the road,” Tomlin said. “And it’ll be about players making significant plays in weighty moments.”

Tomlin is 22-17 against Harbaugh. He has won nine of the last 12 meetings, however. Tomlin is 7-1 as an underdog against the Ravens since 2020. He’s also 7-1 against the spread in those eight contests against Baltimore.

The Steelers are currently 4.5-point home underdogs for Sunday night’ game, according to odds posted at DraftKings Sportsbook. The Steelers are +170 on the moneyline, while the Ravens are -205. The over/under is 41.5 points.

The Ravens are trying to become the first team to win the AFC North three times in a row. The Steelers have not won the AFC North since 2020.

“I’ve known that for a while. It was a surprise, but then not a surprise when I thought about it for about five seconds, because it’s so darn competitive,” Harbaugh said. “It’s a big deal, but it’s a game. It’s like any big game. There’s a lot riding on it, and there’s a lot to earn, but you have to go play a winning football game.”
