A contingency plan has been put into place at the Seattle Seahawks’ left guard position.

The Seattle Seahawks will be starting Christian Haynes at left guard vs. the Tennessee Titans on Sunday if Grey Zabel is not ready to return to action. Head coach Mike Macdonald made the announcement during Wednesday’s press conference as reported by FOX 13 Seattle’s Curtis Crabtree.

Seattle’s rookie guard suffered a knee injury in the team’s loss to the Los Angeles Rams in Week 11, and was designated as day-to-day on Monday. Zabel started all of the Seahawks’ first 10 games prior to being taken out of Sunday’s game.

If Zabel is not feeling 100% by Sunday, Haynes will be making his second appearance of the season at left guard. The second-year guard previously played in relief of the injured Zabel in last week’s contest, his first bit of playing time in 2025 after making 16 appearances in his rookie season last year but never starting.

Seattle is entering an easier portion of the schedule, beginning with a game against the 1-9 Tennessee Titans in Nashville this Sunday. Zabel will have plenty of time to recover if needed.
