Field Gulls
Seattle Seahawks head coach Mike Macdonald kicked off his weekly press conference with a big smile, a relevant joke or two, let us know his one-year-old son is now walking (is that normal?) and then got to it: “Are we ready?”
Informative, decisive, and succinct, Coach Mike spent nearly 20 minutes with the hungry scribes that follow the ’Hawks. Woven into the breakdowns and takeaways were the pertinent injury updates with which this article is focused.
With that in mind, it seems as if both RG Anthony Bradford and CB Josh Jobe did not sustain serious long-term damage during last Sunday’s victory against the Minnesota Vikings. Bradford’s elbow seems fine and he and his whole body are ready to return. His spot on the team at RG may be pending, but that is a different article. Jobe also is good to go to practice after passing concussion protocol, which is always a good sign beyond sports ball, for the player and the health of their brain.
In further news, sandwich purveyor Julian Love and actuarial scientist Eric Saubert have both been eligible to return to the practice field since last week, but have yet to. “It’s a possibility [to return to practice] with all (both) these guys. Yeah, we’ll see,” Macdonald said regarding the two players on injured reserve. Love hasn’t played since Week 4 against the Arizona Cardinals due to a hamstring injury.
Jarran Reed, who recently had a second surgery on his wrist and one on his thumb, also looks good, but is not operating at top speed. Reed, who reportedly would like to be reincarnated as a panther (timely), may return to practice soon enough. “He’s doing good. We’ll see how he does throughout the rest of the week, but he looks good.” He’s eligible to come off of IR starting this week, so he could return to the practice field on Wednesday.
Ah. Coach Macdonald. Vague and revealing, all at once. That’s our guy.
