Seattle Seahawks rookie wide receiver Tory Horton exited the game against the Kansas City Chiefs with a bit of a limp, and did not return Friday evening.
Postgame comments revealed the injury to be to his ankle. Coach Mike Macdonald ultimately made the call to preserve the health of his most up-and-coming rookie receiver.
Macdonald also indicated that Horton wanted to go back into the game, and that whatever the injury is it’s minor. One could reasonably speculate that were it a meaningful regular season game and a close score, we might have seen Horton return to play after receiving some attention.
Fortunately, the Seattle Seahawks have soldiered through preseason with hardly an injury to speak of. Kenny McIntosh went down early, the third-string running back, and not much else at all. It’s no wonder that Macdonald wanted to be careful with what looks to be one of the best late-round picks out of this draft. In a week where the San Francisco 49ers just lost guard Dominick Puni for the opener, and the Los Angeles Rams won’t even talk about Matt Stafford, this has been as healthy a camp as could be hoped.
