Aaron Rodgers is a magician when it comes to the football field. He just ages like fine wine. His knowledge led to a new candidate for the catch of the year in the NFL this season.
Steelers running back Kenneth Gainwell was on the ground when he made this catch. This came after he was interfered with by Detroit Lions linebacker Alex Anzalone. Somehow, Aaron Rodgers’ deep pass bounced off his right hand. Gainwell kept his eyes on the ball and managed to haul the pass in.
Anzalone was too busy complaining to realize that Gainwell made the catch. He failed to touch him, and then he scored.
If not for Aaron Rodgers, none of this would have happened.
Steelers QB Aaron Rodgers has come a long way from throwing his teammates under the bus. The team is winning games and looking strong in their quest to qualify for the playoffs.
Things were not easy on Sunday as they faced the Lions. The team appeared to be destined to go into the half trailing the Detroit Lions. Then, Rodgers tossed up a pass in the direction of running back Kenneth Gainwell. The rest was history as he fell and caught the ball while on the ground.
It was one of the strangest plays of the NFL season. The touchdown helped them to a 29-24 victory.
It turns out Aaron Rodgers created the play from the start. He was mic’d up for the moment. After breaking the huddle, Rodgers shifts Gainwell over to his right side. He instructed him to run a flat.

The coverage from the Lions had him changing the play. The rest is history. Rodgers completed 27-of-41 passes for 266 yards and a touchdown.
As one fan pointed out, it was “pure improvisation mastery.”

During his post-game press conference, Gainwell admitted that Rodgers told him what to do. “Man, Aaron [Rodgers] called a play and just told me to go out and run a go ball,” Gainwell said.
Pittsburgh will face the Browns next week.
