With Micah Parsons making his debut for the Green Bay Packers last Sunday in the win over the Detroit Lions, he looks to continue his dominance, as he showed with his former team in the Dallas Cowboys. As Parsons already recorded his first sack with the Packers, and likely with many more to come, the rest of the league looks to work around the star, especially the quarterbacks.
Green Bay’s Week 2 opponent comes in the form of the Washington Commanders, who are led by electric dual-threat quarterback Jayden Daniels. What makes Daniels unique, besides being a gifted thrower, is his ability to run the football better than anybody in the league at the position, aside from maybe Lamar Jackson or Josh Allen.
Parsons, on the other hand, isn’t worried, as he mentioned how there are “horse engines” on Green Bay and how no one can out-run him.
“That depends on the type of players you got. We got horse engines now. I don’t see anyone out running me,” Parsons said, according to Kyle Malzahn.
It’s not like Daniels is new to Parsons, as with the Dallas Cowboys, the Commanders are in the NFC East, though it was the quarterback’s first year in the NFL last season.
After the Packers destroyed the Lions, there’s no denying that the rest of the NFL is looking at the team as a real threat to contend, especially with the addition of Parsons. If there is one person who knows Parsons, it would be Commanders head coach Dan Quinn, who was the defensive coordinator for Parsons and the Cowboys before his current role.
Besides sharing his shock for the trade that sent Parsons to Green Bay from Dallas, he would speak on how his speed makes him dangerous.
“I was surprised that he was traded, and I had an absolute blast coaching him,” Quinn said, according to CBS Sports. “So, he brings out the mad scientist in you to see, ‘Alright, what if he was here, and how would you feature him? And what about over here?’ He was a player that could learn things really quickly.”
“In Dallas, he was one of our fastest players, so that’s the hardest thing to simulate for an offensive tackle to see the first couple, two or three steps. It’s not at a speed that you can simulate in a practice rep. So early on, I think there’s been some rushes that he could surprise some people if you haven’t faced him, knowing that he can really jump off the ball.”
At any rate, the Packers look for Parsons to contribute to more success as the team looks to be 2-0 when they take on the Commanders on Thursday night.
