Jerry Jones really did it. The owner of the most popular sports franchise in the world has traded his superstar away to a conference rival. The former Penn State star, Micah Parsons, goes from the Dallas Cowboys to the Green Bay Packers in the latest blockbuster trade.
Here is Jordan Love’s immediate response to the Parsons trade.
This trade is bonkers because of the timing. All offseason, the Cowboys, Jones, and Parsons were going back and forth on a contract dispute. One week until the start of the regular season, Jones decided that sending away Parsons was the best move for the franchise. Cowboys fans might be wondering if anything Jones does is good for the franchise at this point in time.
Anyway, even before the blockbuster trade, Parsons was the favorite to win Defensive Player of the Year. Now that he is a Packer, nothing changes. His odds are a solid +500 to win, with Detroit Lions’ Aidan Hutchinson behind him at +750.
Here are all the NFL odds, courtesy of FanDuel.
Micah Parsons +500
Aidan Hutchinson +750
T.J. Watt +850
Myles Garrett +850
Nick Bosa +1400
Jared Verse +1500
The Packers are also now the favorites to win the NFC North Division. They have surpassed the Lions, who won the division one year ago. The NFC North will be one of the more competitive divisions in the NFL in 2025, as it was one year ago.
Green Bay’s odds are now +165, and the Lions are +190. The Minnesota Vikings are +340 and the Chicago Bears are +600. A team predicted to finish fourth with +600 odds to win is not bad at all. Expect a close battle till the end.
Lastly, the Packers’ Super Bowl odds are +1200, tied with the Lions for the 5th-best odds. The Baltimore Ravens are favored to win at +650. The Buffalo Bills and Philadelphia Eagles are tied for second at +750, while the Kansas City Chiefs are at +800.
