Micah Parsons Contract Negotiations Getting Worse

Teams around the league are reaching contract extensions with players they view as part of the long-term future. Other players, like Trey Hendrickson, are reporting to camp without a new deal. Meanwhile, Micah Parsons and the Dallas Cowboys appear no closer to solving their longstanding contract dispute.

Parsons is headed into the final year of his rookie contract. While he’s set to earn far more this season than he has in any other year ($24 million in 2025 compared to $5.4 million in 2024), he and the Cowboys know he’s worth much, much more.

Yet, for whatever reason, the Cowboys have been unable to reach common ground with the two-time All-Pro pass-rusher and it’s stirred up a lot of drama, even involving team owner Jerry Jones.

So, what’s the latest on the Cowboys’ contract negotiations with Parsons? According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, discussions are now going “backwards” as opposed to making progress.

Furthermore, Yahoo Sports’ Leocciano Callao reports that the team is “further away from a deal in late July, early August than [they] were in late March, early April.”

Usually deadlines, like the start of training camp, spur action. That doesn’t seem to be the case in Dallas, despite the team’s insistence that they “don’t drag deals out.” Well, history shows otherwise, and it’s proving itself again, right in front of our eyes with Parsons.
