Yesterday was an interesting day if you’re a fan of the Miami Dolphins, or honestly, football in general.
News that head coach Mike McDaniel had officially benched Tua Tagovailoa rocked the sports world. But let’s be honest, it wasn’t necessarily a surprise.
Tua has looked like a shell of himself this season. In fact, it’s almost like he’s completely lost all confidence, and quite honestly, his love for the sport. I mean, this is the same guy who once said ‘I’m not on social media…I go home, I see my kids… whether I throw five picks, five touchdowns, we win the game, or lose the game… “ I get to come home to my kids, who are happy to see me every time.”
So maybe his recent “no regrets” attitude shouldn’t be a surprise. His benching, however, surprised a handful of folks and shocked the sports world, including star wide receiver Tyreek Hill.
Hill, known for his troll-like antics on social media, tweeted this out in the moments following the news::::
I’ll let you translate what that means on your own, but he then went a bit further, (jokingly) blaming Terron Armstead’s retirement and new life as a podcaster as the reason Miami’s once explosive offense has turned to dust.
Armstead made sure to join in on the fun, but as a Dolphins fan, no part of this is funny.
The team that once looked damn near unstoppable is three games away from being blown up. The trade for Tyreek Hill, stats aside, was a complete failure, and with every day it becomes more and more clear the Dolphins SHOULD NOT have paid their injury-prone QB.
There’s a good chance Tua and Hill have played their last games in Miami, which means Dolphins fans are once again facing a rebuild — with the hopes of finding their next Dan Marino, at the top of their Christmas wishlist.
What are your thoughts on Mike McDaniel’s decision to bench Tua Tagovailoa in favor of Quinn Ewers? Do you think Tyreek Hill’s reaction showed the cracks in his relationship with Tua? Or is this his way of saying he wants out of Miami again? Let us know in the comments section below!
