Miami Dolphins training camp officially kicked off with the first team practice on Wednesday. While some internal team drama emerged after Tua Tagovailoa met with reporters, that wasn’t even the biggest story of the day.

Unfortunately, the Dolphins are trending because offensive lineman Bayron Matos had to be airlifted via helicopter to a local hospital after suffering an injury near the end of today’s practice.

While the specific injury is not yet known, thankfully, Matos is already in stable condition.

Matos, 24, is a Dominican Republic native who went undrafted out of South Florida in 2024. A former college basketball player at New Mexico and South Florida, Matos switched to football in 2022, but had to join the Bulls as a walk-on.

The 6-foot-7, 313-pound offensive tackle boasts impressive athleticism for a lineman, which includes clocking a 4.88-second 40 40-yard dash.

Matos has yet to appear in an NFL game, but gained valuable experience while working on the Dolphins’ practice squad last season. We’ll have updates on his injury as they’re revealed.
