The Miami Dolphins are back in the news again, and it’s not because they agreed to part ways with general manager Chris Grier. Though, now that interim GM Champ Kelly is taking over controls in Miami, there could be more changes coming, this time to the roster.
After falling to 2-7 with a 28-6 loss to the Baltimore Ravens on Thursday, the Dolphins are headed into Tuesday’s NFL trade deadline as firm sellers as opposed to buyers hoping to make a playoff push. So, who’s available?
Multiple reports have pointed to the Dolphins trading one, or possibly even two of their pass-rushers. That could mean someone like Jaelan Phillips, Bradley Chubb, or Matthew Judon are on the trade block, but they may not be alone.
According to Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk, three-time All-Pro safety Minkah Fitzpatrick could very well be on the move again, for the second time since June 30.
Fitzpatrick has started all nine games this season for the Dolphins. He’s tallied 50 tackles, five pass deflections, and an interception. The 28-year-old has earned a trip to the Pro Bowl in each of the past three seasons, and he could quickly become a key part of another playoff contender’s defense, possibly even back in Pittsburgh. Yet, the Steelers recently traded for Kyle Dugger, so they may not be back in play for the five-time Pro Bowl safety.
Either way, teams hunting for secondary upgrades would be wise to check in with Miami’s newly appointed interim GM.
