One down, one to go. The Rams had Matthew Stafford back at practice on Monday, but now they want to see his blindside protector return to the field next. Head coach Sean McVay had some good news to share about left tackle Alaric Jackson on Monday, telling the media that the team would like to have him back “sooner than later” and that he is in “great shape” for now.

Jackson has missed all of training camp with blood clots and his status for the 2025 season has been in doubt for basically the entire offseason.

The Rams signed Jackson to a three-year contract extension, hoping to not have to go through a carousel at left tackle, but so far they have had to rely solely on reserves. The team signed veteran D.J. Humphries in free agency, but lower-key free agent David Quessenberry has been arguably even better in training camp and preseason. The team also has 2023 fifth round pick Warren McClendon as insurance.

If the Rams can get Jackson back by midseason, it would be a huge boost to the team when they need it the most.
