Nowadays, even after a rescinded trade to the Baltimore Ravens, Maxx Crosby is the Las Vegas Raiders’ brightest star. As a rookie, however, the defensive force watched in awe while former Pittsburgh Steelers receiver Antonio Brown stepped on the practice field.

During a recent Kick stream with content creator Neon, Crosby shared a story about Brown, who never even played a game with the Raiders — then in Oakland and coached by Jon Gruden — because of how much of a headache he grew to be.

“He was my teammate for about four months,” Crosby said. “He came into training on a fucking hot air balloon, he burned his feet off in a cryo chamber right before camp and then they banned his helmet. So I seen him practice, like, two times, and it was, like, the two greatest practices I’ve ever witnessed in my life. He was so fucking cold, and he practiced and trained so hard, but he just had so much going on and so many distractions.

“I was a rookie, so I’m thinking, ‘You know, it’s the NFL, you saw T.O. growing up and Ocho. That’s just kinda how receivers are.’ He was extreme.”

Brown was coming off a campaign with the Steelers in 2018 in which he notched 104 grabs for 1,297 yards and a league-leading 15 touchdown catches.

“He was doing a lot of crazy shit,” Crosby said. “We would be in practice — in the middle of a practice — and he would be on the other field just with his shoulder pads off, just running around throwing the ball with his kids. … He just did whatever the fuck he wanted. He was the best player on the field every time.”
