Matthew Stafford was back at practice on Monday, pausing weeks of speculation about how long his back injury would keep him from working out with the L.A. Rams. After reports that the Rams would not comment on a throwing session scheduled for 8-16-25, there were concerns that Stafford had a setback, and when the Rams chose to keep their information on Stafford limited over the past weekend, stating that Sean McVay would have an update on Monday, those concerns grew louder.
Flash forward to 8-18-25, and Stafford is back at practice. I believe we are still waiting to hear what exactly McVay will have to say to media members, but Stafford is suited up and seemingly ready to give today’s practice the old college try.
Stafford and the Rams still have a few weeks to get ready for Week 1 and beyond, and that does mean that there could be another setback with Stafford’s back, there could be new injuries to pop-up, and we aren’t even sure the type of performance that Stafford will have at practice or that he escapes today unscathed, but Stafford is out there, and if nothing else, that does point to being an improvement from the last couple weeks.
