In his press conference on Sunday, Green Bay Packers head coach Matt LaFleur stated that safety Omar Brown, who was officially ruled out of yesterday’s preseason game with a chest contusion, is still in Indianapolis. Per LaFleur, Brown was injured on the opening kickoff in the second half with a lung injury and continued to play for the next 12 minutes of game time before eventually being taken off on a cart with an oxygen mask.

LaFleur stated that Brown is “showing a lot of improvement.” Thankfully, Brown’s prognosis seems positive, all things considered.

Beyond Brown, though, the Packers have some bad news on the injury front. After saying yesterday that running back MarShawn Lloyd was “okay,” LaFleur now claims that Lloyd is “gonna miss some time” with his hamstring injury. Lloyd was the team’s top back with the second-team unit on Saturday, ahead of Emanuel Wilson, who was featured with the third-team offense, and Chris Brooks, who was mostly used in pass protection with the second-team.

Rookie defensive end Barryn Sorrell, who was fifth on the depth chart at that position but was featured frequently on all core-four special teams units for Green Bay this preseason, will also miss time with his knee injury. That’s a gut punch for the Packers, who have had fifth-round rookie defensive end Collin Oliver on their physically unable to perform list for all of training camp.

LaFleur said that he “would love to get” quarterback Jordan Love (thumb) out on the field for practice tomorrow, even stating that Love could get reps in seven-on-seven drills, something that LaFleur usually doesn’t do in practice. The Seattle Seahawks come to town for joint practice this week, so the Packers probably want to get Love’s reps for the week out of the way before then.
