Ever since “Good Will Hunting” swept up at the 1998 Academy Awards, actors Matt Damon and Ben Affleck have become the spokespeople of Boston sports in Hollywood.

From defending Deflategate on “Jimmy Kimmel Live,” to turning down roles that require them to wear New York Yankees hats, the duo raised in Cambridge, Mass., is as diehard as they come.

Most recently, they have leveraged the rollout of their latest film, “The Rip,” to discuss the New England Patriots’ resurgence in success.

The duo was asked, “How do we feel about Drake Maye?” while on Katie Nolan’s “Casuals” podcast.

“Oh, we love him,” Damon responded.

“I mean, it’s like a miracle, how do you get another really good quarterback?” Affleck said. “I thought I’d be dead before New England had another great football team.”

Damon, 55, and Affleck, 53, spent a little bit of time talking about the Patriots’ greats of old, like Jim Plunkett and Steve Grogan, before setting their sights back on the team’s young phenom.

“The way they’re set up for the future,” Damon said. “Drake Maye is 23 years old. We’ve got all this cap space.”

“Every time I see this guy, I’m like, ‘This kid is in high school,'” Affleck interrupted. “The people are like, ‘No, Dad, you’re just old.'”
