The Super Bowl is the premier NFL season event and arguably the country’s biggest sporting event every year.

The NFL is cracking down on players and team employees who sell tickets to the big game to make extra cash.

According to the Associated Press, the league reportedly fined 100 players and two dozen club employees for selling Super Bowl 59 tickets above face value.

On Friday, Rob Maaddi of the Associated Press reported, “The NFL is fining about 100 players and two dozen club employees for violating league policy by selling Super Bowl 59 tickets for above face value, a person with knowledge of the details told The Associated Press on Friday.”

The AP also released a statement from the NFL head of compliance, Sabrina Perel.

“Our initial investigation has determined that a number of NFL players and coaches, employed by several NFL Clubs, sold Super Bowl tickets for more than the ticket’s face value in violation of the Policy. This long-standing League Policy, which is specifically incorporated into the Collective Bargaining Agreement, prohibits League or Club employees, including players, from selling NFL game tickets acquired from their employer for more than the ticket’s face value or for an amount greater than the employee originally paid for the ticket, whichever is less. We are in the process of completing our investigation into this matter, but the investigation has revealed that club employees and players sold their tickets to a small number of ‘bundlers’ who were working with a ticket reseller to sell the Super Bowl tickets above face value.”

This year, for Super Bowl 59, an average ticket had a price tag of $6,645, according to TickPick, which was a steep drop-off from the average price of just over $9,300 a year prior.

The new CBA states players and employees on all 32 teams can purchase two Super Bowl tickets. Unfortunately, many of them took advantage and sold them for a higher price.

The AP further added that those players won’t be able to purchase tickets next year, although the list of players has not been released.

Super Bowl 59 Was A Complete Blowout

Super Bowl 59, which took place on February 9, 2025, was held at the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans.

It was a rematch between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Philadelphia Eagles.

Unlike the first time around, the Eagles would not be denied and pretty much ended the contest early, holding a 24-0 halftime lead.

The Eagles’ strong performance included two interceptions by quarterback Patrick Mahomes, one of which was returned for a touchdown.
