Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Mason Rudolph spoke to the media and highlighted the growth and performance by the offense in preseason.

**PITTSBURGH–**The Pittsburgh Steelers have had signs of growth throughout training camp and preseason. While starting quarterback Aaron Rodgers has not — and likely will not — taken any snaps, his backup has seen a bulk of action. Mason Rudolph spoke to reporters on Tuesday and highlighted the growth he’s seen from the unit.

Rudolph has no doubts that he will be under center Thursday night in the preseason finale in Charlotte. When asked how he has assessed the offense thus far, he praised the unit’s production.

“I was pleased. I thought that we moved the ball well,” Rudolph told reporters. Despite not seeing top-tier weapons like DK Metcalf and Pat Freiermuth, Rudolph pointed out those who stepped into their place.

“It’s been good to see guys like Roman Wilson step up and make plays … Scott [Miller], Darnell [Washington.]” Rudolph told reporters.

The preseason has been especially fruitful for the second-year receiver Roman Wilson. Not only has he received his first extended work on the field, but he’s made plays.

Another group of youth is the offensive line. With Broderick Jones returning to left tackle and Troy Fautanu returning from injuries, the line has been a hot topic.

However, against teams with premier or on-the-rise defensive lines, the young group has performed well. Particularly in pass protection.

“The guys are doing well,” Rudolph said of his o-linemen. “Brod and Troy have done a great job.” He also highlighted that this group is his outing partners, creating a chuckle among the media group.

Despite the positive vibes, Rudolph knows that performances have to translate to the regular season. It wasn’t too long ago that the Steelers’ offense was greatly humbled after a strong preseason.

“In 2023, I think we had the best preseason of all time,” Rudolph said with a grin. “The regular season’s a different story, so it’s always hard to gauge … I’m confident, you know, in our scheme, the player caller, and the guys we have around us.”

That season, Rudolph stepped in at the end of the season and helped send Pittsburgh to the playoffs. This year, he will start as the backup to Rodgers. It will be up to the 21-year veteran to keep things flowing on offense after Thursday.
