Mark Sanchez was released from the hospital on Sunday morning. He chose not to address the alleged stabbing victim during his first public statement since the violent attack earlier this month.
I would assume it was for legal reasons but I was surprised by the lack of comment.
The former NFL quarterback spoke only about his own health and recovery. Sanchez did not answer any additional questions.
News first broke of this horrifying incident on the afternoon of Saturday, Oct. 4. The Indianapolis Police Department responded to a 9-1-1 call around 12:30 a.m. that morning for two injured people.
Mark Sanchez was one of them.
They were both transported to the hospital in critical condition with stab wounds. Adam Schefter initially reported it was an attempted robbery. He was very wrong.
Not too long thereafter, Sanchez was arrested — while in the hospital — for allegedly attacking a delivery driver before he got stabbed. Additional details from the surveillance video were released the next day, as well as graphic photos of the injuries sustained by the victim.
Since then, Sanchez has been hit with an additional felony charge as well as an expensive lawsuit that also involves his employer, Fox. A new video was also released earlier this week that shows him stumbling around downtown Indianapolis both before and after the stabbing occurred.
There is still a long way to go before we know the full story. The police continue to investigate exactly what happened. This is going to play out in a court of law.
In the meantime, Sanchez was released from the hospital on Sunday morning and booked into jail. A judge ordered on Friday that he must complete processing by the sheriff’s department on this case before he could leave the state.
