On Thursday, police in Louisiana announced they had arrested the man who staged a protest after crashing the halftime show at Super Bowl LIX. That story has taken an unexpected turn, as he’s apparently the same person who who Antonio Brown allegedly targeted in the shooting that led to the wide receiver fleeing the country.

The Super Bowl is one of the most widely-viewed sporting events on the planet, and it’s only natural that it’s managed to attract more than a few attention seekers who’ve infiltrated the field in the hopes of getting some airtime.

There have been multiple instances where the game was temporarily delay by streakers who managed to disrupt the proceedings, and this year, Kendrick Lamar’s halftime show featured a protester who unfurled Sudanese and Palestinian flags in a show of support for the victims of the civil war being waged in the former and the ongoing conflict in Gaza in the latter.

The man, identified as 41-year-old New Orleans resident Zul-Qarnain Kwame Nantambu, was initially detained before being released after police determined he was a hired extra who hadn’t technically committed trespassing. However, a subsequent investigation determined he could still be charged with resisting an officer and disturbing the peace (both misdemeanors).

Nantambu turned himself in on Thursday after a warrant was issued for his arrest, and it turns out that isn’t the only NFL-related incident he’s been involved with this year.

According to The Independent, Nantambu was also listed as the target in the shooting that transpired in Miami on May 17th that led to Antonio Brown being charged with attempted murder—a development that led to the former wide receiver claiming self-defense before fleeing the United States for an as-of-yet unknown location.

If you’re curious, that altercation didn’t have anything to do with what went down at the Super Bowl, as it appears the shooting stemmed from a preexisting beef connected to Brown’s claims that Nantambu stole “six-figures” worth of jewelry from him in Dubai in 2022.

What a world.
