Any chance the New York Giants had of making the playoffs in 2025 likely went down the toilet in Week 4 when top star Malik Nabers suffered what will likely be a season-ending knee injury.
Despite a 0-3 start to the season featuring some ugly and frustrating losses, there was a ton of hope for Giants fans heading into Sunday’s game against the Los Angeles Chargers. That is what comes with a quarterback change for a bad offense, and there is a ton of positive buzz about rookie first-round pick Jaxson Dart.
However, all of that hope for today and the weeks ahead was completely sucked out of MetLife Stadium in the second quarter. Dart threw a deep pass down the right sideline into Chargers territory, hoping his budding superstar receiver could go up and make a play. Since Nabers could not run under the ball, he had to stop and make a jump for it, and that likely ended his season.

Nabers’ right leg seemed to buckle when trying to make the quick stop and play on the ball. He didn’t make the catch, and immediately after crashing to the ground, he grabbed his right knee. Cameras in the end zone had a clear view of his face, and he was in serious anguish from the pain. He was unable to walk under his own power and needed to be carted off.
NFL fans have seen situations like this many times. We all know it will take a miracle for Nabers not to have a major ligament injury in his knee. It will likely be at least an ACL tear and require season-ending surgery.
The injury is a devastating one for the Giants after the LSU star had a breakout season in his rookie campaign that saw him earn Pro Bowl honors. It is also a huge blow for Dart. Now, without the team’s top target by far, his development will be significantly hampered for the rest of the season.
