On her latest Making Monsters podcast, Taylor Doll previewed Sunday’s Chicago Bears vs Dallas Cowboys game with two people who know the teams well. First, she’s joined by former Bear and current ESPN radio host, Tom Waddle, and then she’s joined by former Cowboys coach Dave Campo.
Chicago is dealing with injuries at linebacker and corner, but their defensive issues are deeper than that.
“They’re getting no push up front from their front four,” Waddle said on the pod, “which means that Dennis Allen can’t be the aggressive defensive coordinator that he wants. He can’t, you know, throw a bunch of blitzes at opposing teams to try to enhance that anemic pass rush, because then you’re leaving the back seven, particularly your corners, on an island. And right now, they’re not good enough and deep enough to play man coverage over the course of an entire game.”
Waddle talks more about the defense, but he also gets into Caleb Williams, Rome Odunze, and the offense.
Coach Campo gives Taylor skinny on Dallas’ defensive struggles, and also expounds on the threat that Dak Prescott and the talented Cowboys offense pose to the Bears.
