Here’s what happened in our simulation:

First quarter

It was a memorable start for the Philadelphia Eagles as Jalen Hurts’ first pass went 70 yards to the house, connecting with A.J. Brown for the score.

After falling behind early, the Chiefs did not panic and put together a methodical drive. Once at midfield, Patrick Mahomes rifled a 22-yard pass to DeAndre Hopkins, moving the ball inside the 30-yard line. On the next play, Mahomes returned to Hopkins for another first down, pushing the Chiefs into the red zone.

On third-and-goal, the Eagles’ defense held strong, stopping the Chiefs at the 1-yard line and forcing a fourth down.

Gambling on fourth-and-goal from the 1, Mahomes found his favorite target of the drive —Hopkins — for a touchdown to tie the game.

End of the first quarter: Chiefs 7, Eagles 7

Second quarter

The Eagles again exposed the Chiefs’ secondary as Hurts lobbed a 38-yard touchdown pass to wide receiver Jahan Dotson.

The Chiefs fought for every first down on the following drive as the Eagles’ defense heavily pressured Patrick Mahomes.

On third-and-short, Travis Kelce hauled in a 23-yard pass to reach midfield. Later in the drive, Mahomes saw defenders downfield and took off for a 9-yard gain, setting up a JuJu Smith-Schuster post-route catch. Smith-Schuster was forced out at the 1-yard line.

One play later, Mahomes found Hollywood Brown on a simple hitch route for a touchdown.

The Eagles and Chiefs then traded punts.

With 22 seconds left in the half, a screen pass to Saquon Barkley pushed the Eagles to midfield. A first-down pass to Brown, followed by a 17-yard strike to Dallas Goedert, set up a toe-tapping sideline grab by Dotson, leaving the Eagles at the 14-yard line with seven seconds to go.

Kicker Jake Elliott drilled a field goal to retake the lead.

End of the second quarter: Eagles 17, Chiefs 14

Third quarter

A pass that didn’t look catchable — yet Mahomes threaded the ball past two defenders and into the hands of Xavier Worthy for a huge 30-yard gain.

The momentum carried as the Chiefs marched down the field, connecting on multiple plays to Hopkins.

The drive stalled at the 15-yard line, where kicker Harrison Butker tied the game with a field goal.

End of the third quarter: Chiefs 17, Eagles 17

Fourth quarter

With just over eight minutes left in the game, a crucial third-down attempt by the Eagles didn’t go as planned. Hurts checked down to Barkley, who needed eight yards for the first down – but four Chiefs defenders swarmed him. Linebacker Nick Bolton knocked the ball loose – but in a wild turn, it rolled forward past the first-down marker. Lane Johnson jumped on top of it, securing...
