Things are not starting out well for Matthew Stafford.
The Los Angeles Rams have Super Bowl aspirations in 2025, but much of their hope rests on the shoulders and the back of their veteran quarterback.
According to NFL insider Ian Rapoport, Stafford has yet to practice in training camp as he is dealing with an aggravated disk in his back.

The 37-year-old signal-caller received an epidural to help him deal with the injury.
The Los Angeles Rams have been confident in their public assessments that Matthew Stafford will be under center in Week 1 against the Houston Texans despite a lot of chatter and concern about the 37-year-old quarterback’s health status.
Over the weekend, Rams coach Sean McVay called Stafford “week-to-week” and noted that while he’s making good progress.
Dr. Jesse Morse took to X to give his thoughts on Matthew Stafford’s back injury.
Morse stated on X, “Back pain is tricky and an epidural is essentially just a cortisone shot placed strategically to try to calm down the nerve.”
He further added, “It doesn’t do the most important thing that truly solve this problem : stabilize the back and restrengthen the ligaments connecting the lumbar spine to the hips & sacrum. So it’s temporary at best.”

The 2025 season is fast approaching, and Matthew Stafford is not 100%.
The Rams quarterback has not practiced in training camp due to a back injury. Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that an aggravated disc is keeping Stafford off the field.
Stafford is receiving treatment for the issue that has reportedly included an epidural injection.
The team might be confident of him being on the field in Week 1, but how long will his back hold up during a grueling 2025 season?
