Los Angeles Chargers linebacker Denzel Perryman was arrested on Friday evening for possession of an assault weapon.
According to TMZ, Denzel Perryman was arrested by officers of the South Los Angeles Sheriff’s Station last night after they discovered two rifles and three handguns in his car while he was en route to a gun range.
Since the rifles are “non-compliant” in California state laws, Perryman was arrested and charged with possessing an assault weapon. As of this morning, Perryman was still being held in jail.
As of 10:45 a.m. EST, the Chargers have yet to publicly comment on the matter.
The Chargers drafted Denzel Perryman in the second round (48th overall) in 2015. He spent his first six NFL seasons there before brief tenures with the Las Vegas Raiders (2021 to 2022) and Houston Texans (2023).
The Chargers brought back Perryman on a one-year deal in 2024 free agency. He finished with one sack and 55 combined tackles in 11 games, earning a new one-year deal from the Bolts earlier this offseason.
Over his first 10 NFL seasons, Perryman has 7.5 sacks, five interceptions, 14 pass breakups, four forced fumbles and 717 combined tackles.
