The Los Angeles Chargers‘ season ended on Sunday following a tough 16-3 loss to the New England Patriots. Jim Harbaugh’s offense looked punchless, gaining just 207 yards.
It was the second year in a row that the Chargers won 11 games but failed to win a game after qualifying for the playoffs. Like last season, the offense didn’t show up when it mattered most.
Now, it’s time for someone to pay for the Chargers’ struggles. On Tuesday, the Chargers found their scapegoat.
According to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, the Chargers have fired offensive coordinator Greg Roman. Los Angeles also fired offensive line coach Mike Devlin.
Roman joined the staff in 2024, when Harbaugh took over as head coach. He’s the fourth offensive coordinator Justin Herbert has had since being drafted in 2020.
After ranking 11th in scoring last season, the Chargers slipped to 20th in 2025. Though many would point to several key injuries as the main cause.
Still, the opportunity to coach Herbert while getting multiple impact starters such as Rashawn Slater, Joe Alt, plus a more stable running back group, makes the Chargers a popular pick to bounce back in a big way offensively in 2026. It shouldn’t be difficult to attract a capable replacement for Roman, and hiring the right fit could help unlock playoff success in L.A.
