Loose Feathers: Lamar and Zay throw punches, Minter takes Cincy

Welcome back to Loose Feathers, where we catch you up on recent news and analysis about the Baltimore Ravens. Let’s get into the latest updates!

Lamar Jackson, Zay Flowers practice boxing

Last week, Mike Green tried out sumo wrestling to work on his leverage and footwork. Lamar Jackson and Zay Flowers have also been training with a fighting sport: boxing. (Caution: the following clip features NSFW language.)

Jackson and Flowers were working with Dawson Saint Jour, a performance coach who helps athletes improve their strength, conditioning, and functional athleticism via boxing. Among the benefits are better reaction times, improved endurance, and more cohesion between upper- and lower-body movements. Those are already strengths for both Jackson and Flowers, but in this league, if you’re not getting better, you’re falling behind.

Jesse Minter visits Orioles in Cincy

Jesse Minter has been warming up to the public-facing role of an NFL head coach, including a recent visit to Cincinnati to watch the Baltimore Orioles.

The Orioles took two of their three games from the Cincinnati Reds but lost on Sunday after Minter left the city. (Coincidence? I think not!) Hopefully, the Ravens can find similar success when they head to Cincy to take on the Bengals in October.

Teddye Buchanan returns to the field

Just seven months after tearing his ACL, 2025 fourth-round pick Teddye Buchanan has returned to the field.

The 23-year-old went down in December, cutting short a promising rookie year as the Ravens’ No. 2 linebacker. Getting him ready by Week 1 – and integrated into a new defense – might be a long shot, and Baltimore has often taken the cautious route with players returning from major injuries. But even this update is an extremely positive sign that Buchanan can return to his spot next to Roquan Smith sooner rather than later.
