The Athletic’s Jesse Newell has posted a photo on X that shows Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Xavier Worthy on the practice field for the team’s Thursday afternoon practice at the team facility on the grounds of the Truman Sports Complex.
In Newell’s photo, the second-year wide receiver is shown wearing a brace and heavy padding around his injured shoulder — and on Kansas City’s official Thursday injury report, he is listed as a limited participant in the session.
It’s also highly likely that he will not be available for Sunday’s game against the Philadelphia Eagles on GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium, which will be played only nine days after Worthy dislocated his shoulder in the Week 1 game against the Los Angeles Chargers.
Still, it is living, obvious proof that Worthy’s injury is not as severe as had been feared — and that he is making good progress toward a return to the field.
