The Cincinnati Bengals need to have a far better 2025 on the defensive side of the ball, and having one of their best players healthy should help that cause.
Wilson is set to have an $8,759,176 cap number in 2025, per Spotrac. This includes a base salary of $5,368,000 and a $2,000,000 prorated signing bonus, plus roster and workout bonuses.
Wilson was a lesser-known product out of Wyoming in the 2020 NFL Draft, but quickly made a name for himself as a ball hawk, starting with his rookie season.
Since entering the league in 2020, Wilson has led all linebackers in interceptions in that span. With 11 interceptions in his career, Wilson has found a way to get the football away from the offense, oftentimes in big moments.
A knee injury cut Wilson’s 2024 season short, but he looks to be back to 100% healthy based on seeing him at his celebrity softball game and back on the practice field for OTAs.
Wilson is also reunited with Al Golden, his former linebackers coach with the Bengals. With Golden back in the fold, linebackers will be even more important in the Bengals’ defense, and that bodes well for “The Cowboy” to again be one of the top linebackers in the NFL.
With Germaine Pratt now with the Las Vegas Raiders, Wilson is going to be the elder statesman of the linebacker room and likely will be asked to step into even more of a leadership role as Golden looks to shape the young Bengals defense into a respectable unit.
When Wilson returns to the field in Week 1, look for him to be in a defensive system that will have him poised for a bounce-back season in 2025.
