The Pittsburgh Steelers have needed help at the wide receiver position, seemingly forever now, and they might be finding some in the heating-up trade market, with players like Deebo Samuel of the San Francisco 49ers making overtures to the Steelers.
Samuel could be a good fit, but he probably can’t be the only addition for the Steelers, as they desperately need someone to play outside along with George Pickens, and that’s not Samuel’s game. He would give them a trio of solid interior options when paired with Calvin Austin III and Roman Wilson, but Samuel alone won’t fix the team’s gaping hole at Z receiver.
Alan Saunders joined Chris Carter on the Locked On Steelers Podcast to discuss the trade rumors for Samuel, why it would make sense and how it would still leave the Steelers lacking.
The guys also talked about the Steelers quarterback situation, the drama surrounding reporting about the relationship between Russell Wilson and offensive coordinator Arthur Smith, whether it matters, and how that stuff happens. They also broke down the final stars and skulls grades for the 2024 season at the wide receiver position.
