When Payton Manning made the move to the Denver Broncos and Tom Brady made the move to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, both late-career quarterbacks had huge amounts of success, both statistically, and each winning a Super Bowl for their new team. Can the Pittsburgh Steelers expect to have the same kind of results with Aaron Rodgers?
The situations are different, as Rodgers is three years removed from playing that level of football. Brady made a seamless transition from the New England Patriots to the Bucs, while Manning missed one season with the Indianapolis Colts with a neck injury before joining the Broncos.
The team situations are different, as well. Bradyβs Buccaneers played in a division devoid of talent, and Manning joined a team that already had an elite defense. The Steelers could have an elite defense again in 2025, but Rodgers will be at best the third-best quarterback in the AFC North, let alone the likes of Josh Allen and Patrick Mahomes in a stacked AFC.
Alan Saunders joined Chris Carter on the Locked On Steelers Podcast to discuss how good Rodgers can be in 2025, and how much he can help the Steelers.
