The Kansas City Chiefs have overhauled their secondary during the 2026 offseason. Kansas City lost key players like Trent McDuffie and Jaylen Watson, but added reinforcements with Mansoor Delane in the 2026 NFL Draft. Now the Chiefs could be closing in on a reunion with one talented defensive back.
The Chiefs are hosting free agent cornerback L’Jarius Sneed for a visit on Thursday, per ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
Kansas City traded Sneed to Tennessee before the 2024 season. The Titans released Sneed back in March after a disastrous run in Nashville.
Sneed was an incredible cornerback for the Chiefs during his rookie contract. His best season came in 2022 when he logged 108 total tackles, three interceptions, and 11 passes defensed. Sneed also got involved close to the line of scrimmage with three-and-a-half sacks, three forced fumbles, one fumble recovery.
Unfortunately, Sneed was not nearly as successful during his time in Tennessee.
The veteran cornerback dealt with multiple injuries during the 2024 and 2025 seasons. He suffered a quad strain and bruise in 2024 that limited him to just five games. Sneed finished the 2025 season on injured reserve after reinjuring that quad injury.
In total, Sneed played 12 games for the Titans over two years before being released.
To make matters worse, Sneed also had off-the-field issues with the Titans that essentially made him a high-priced distraction.
NFL insiders predicted that a Chiefs reunion was in the cards for Sneed during the 2025 offseason. It seems that prediction was right on the money, aside from being a year too early.
If the Chiefs do sign Sneed, he would have to compete hard for a spot on the roster. But if he is fully healthy, Sneed could eventually compete for a regular role on Kansas City’s defense.
Hopefully the Chiefs make up their mind soon, one way or the other.
